Spring Forward

By now you’ve kicked all of your holiday decorations to the curve with the wake of the new season and year. I bet that you’re still holding onto that cashmere sweater that you got last year. As much as we’ve been craving warmer weather and less fuss, we’re nowhere near ready for the new season. It can be difficult to let go some of your favorite belongings and that red leather jacket that you’re still trying to find something to match with. Sometimes you don’t have to throw everything away to prepare your spring wardrobe, but some things must go. If you have a bad habit of holding onto things, then this article is for you. We’ve come up with some easy and successful ways to prep your closet for the spring. You’ll thank us later when you’re shopping for new pieces.

1.      Let Go, and Let God: I’m pretty sure that skirt was “in” when you brought it, but after five seasons later, it’s time to give it up. It’s hard to let anything go, especially clothes. We always feel like we need everything and find ourselves trying to find a reason for having it. Sorry to break it to you sis, but you have to let it go. Don’t be afraid to throw things out. A new season brings new looks so don’t think it’s the end of the world if you throw out your purse from five years ago.

2.      Define your look: Whether you get most of your ideas from Instagram or you make them up yourself; one of the biggest keys to preparing your closet is understanding your look. Once you establish your look it’ll be much easier when you clean out your space. Even if your look has changed over time, understanding what you’re going for will help you save time and money.

3.      Everything Doesn’t Have to Go: Spring cleaning does not necessarily mean get rid of everything. If you have key pieces hold on to them. A great outfit is always composed of a good statement piece. While you’re searching through your closet pull out all your statement pieces.

4.      Shop New Pieces: If you wore stripes last spring, then you might want to wear pastels this spring. It can be hard to break away from what we like, but remember to always keep it fresh. Don’t fall into the cycle of buying the same thing over and over again.
